Obama is suspending his campaign to
visit his ailing Grandmother. More specifically, Obama is suspending
his campaign to visit his supposed ailing grandmother.
Does that sound unfair? Does
that sound cynical and mean-spirited? Awful? Terrible? Truly and
disgracefully out-of-bounds? Unfortunately, with someone of Obama’s
history the answer can only be “maybe”. Let’s take a quick look at the
facts:
-
There appears so far
to be no independent medical confirmation that she’s all that sick. She
may be, but when a man has the driving ambition to become the most
powerful man in the world we not only have a right but an obligation to
our fellows and all our children yet to be born to question his
motives. Always. Hurting the feelings of a man with that degree of
ambition for power is never a cause for concern for those who would put
him into power ever. Let’s not be cute about this: not ever.
-
McCain
was chided for suspending his campaign to try to save the financial
future of America which means everything from the cost of milk to the
probable delivery of life and death medical assistance and supplies to
those holding on by a thread. He didn’t do this for personal reasons,
he did it for his country. Obama didn’t suspend his campaign for his country, but now claims to being doing it – for several days, mind you – because his grandmother is sick. Not “gravely ill or dying” from what we understand –just, you know, sick. I
was sick recently, too. I stubbed my toe on the edge of a bed leg the
other night and it hurt like hell for two days, but I didn’t suspend my
activities because of it.
-
And
here’s where we get to the meat of it, I think: a few days ago Obama
was walking down main street USA glad-handing like a man of the people
and what happened? He got broadsided by one common sense American named
Joe the Plumber out of 300 million and suddenly McCain is ahead (albeit
within the margin of error) in the life-or-death battleground states of
Florida and Ohio. And so it appears Obama – literally - flies home to
hide behind his Grandma’s skirts.
Maybe Barack’s grandmother is truly ill. Maybe it’s serious insomuch as her illness
is serious. And maybe I’m being cynical in a world in which we are
expected to be extra nice to a black man and give him a pass on a past
replete with a nonstop stream of Marxist associations, some of which
are very tight indeed.
But one
thing is absolutely for sure: if his Grandmother is indeed gravely ill
enough for someone as personally ambitious enough as Obama to suspend
his campaign, then indeed God may be at his side, because just when
Obama needs an attack-proof rationalization to get the hell out of the
public square so as to run out the clock without any more run-ins with
Joe the Plumbers, suddenly he has one – and he can hide and escape
having to intermingle with average Americans without looking like he’s hiding from average Americans.
I worry for Obama’s grandmother greatly, to be perfectly frank. Not only do Obama’s posters
hearken back to communist Russia of the 40’s and 50’s, but his suddenly
ill Grandmother at a time when avoiding the public is critical does
also.
If she’s
terribly ill we wish his grandmother Godspeed, and do so sincerely, as
is the wont of true conservatives who love human beings so much that we
love them before they’re even born. But while we’re at it, let’s be
extra generous and all chip in and pay for dozens of average working
Joes to fly out and give Obama the opportunity to keep speaking about
his socialist policies while he’s nursing his grandmother back to
health.
